A Polish MEP is fighting to block the agreement with Mercosur. “50 percent chance”

More information soon

Why does Krzysztof Hetman want to block the agreement with Mercosur?

How many MPs support Hetman's interpretation of blocking the contract?

What will happen if the motion to block the contract is passed?

How long can the CJEU review the case?

The proposal must be voted on by the European Parliament. If it obtains its approval, the terms of acceptance of the contract must be suspended when the CJEU begins its examination of the case.

If this were to happen, the agreement would effectively be blocked for several years, as the Court examines such cases for approximately two years. Hetman believes that this would give time to negotiate a better contract. “The chances are half and half,” says Krzysztof Hetman.
