Karol Nawrocki spoke in the UN. “Poland is the goal of cyber attacks”

– Today, our safety is threatened not only by tanks and rockets, but also cyber attacks, disinformation campaigns, and using the so -called Deep fake and manipulation in the information space. It is also a modern weapon, very different from conventional – said the President of the Republic of Poland. – In recent years, Poland, like many other countries, has become the target of more and more intense attacks from hostile countries, mainly Russia. We are attacked every day. It is worth mentioning that only over 100,000 were recorded in Poland last year. incidents. I believe that artificial intelligence can be our shield on this new cyberpol of the battle and give us a real advantage – he added.

President Nawrocki assured that Poland does not intend to look at the technological revolution from the side, indicating, among others for Polish startups and participation of Polish scientists in international projects and the legislative initiative on the creation of a breakthrough technology development fund in August. Nawrocki for establishing standards

– In Poland, we are fully aware that in order for artificial intelligence to actually serve peace and global development, it must be based on something more than just technology. It must be based on transparent principles, in line with human ethics and international regulations – emphasized the president. – We need a forum where countries will be able to share experience in the responsible implementation of artificial intelligence, including in the security and defense sector. I believe that the Security Council may become a leader in developing rules on the use of artificial intelligence in armed conflicts and enforcement of standards limiting its use against people – he noted.

The position of Poland in this matter was similar to most European countries, but different from the one presented by the Advisor on the technology of US President Donald Trump, Michael Kitsios. Katsios told against excessive AI regulations and the “centralization” of these principles.

– We completely reject all efforts of international bodies aimed at ensuring centralized control and global artificial intelligence management – said the US representative. – We believe that the responsible dissemination of artificial intelligence will help pave the way to the flourishing future, the future of productivity, strengthening the position of individuals and the revolution in scientific development. The path to this world does not lead through bureaucratic management, but through the freedom and duty of citizens, prudence and cooperation of state husbands, as well as the independence and sovereignty of nations – he added.

Katsios emphasized that excessive regulations only suppress innovations and “increase the risk that these tools will be used for tyranny and conquests.” He admitted, however, that the improper use of AI systems can cause destabilizing effects and “strengthen political control systems and social engineering.”
