In Wednesday's statement, President Karol Nawrocki announced that he had refused to nominate 46 judges. He also announced that for the next five years, no judge who questions the constitutional powers of the president, the Polish constitution and the Polish legal system can count on judicial nomination and promotion. – We are still waiting for information from the Chancellery of the President and the list of 46 people – said Minister of State Waldemar Żurek, referring to this decision.

On Wednesday evening, the Ministry of Justice announced on the X platform that “the secretariat of the Minister of Justice received a letter from the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland regarding the refusal to appoint 46 judges.” “The document lacks justification for this decision,” it added.

“The Ministry will take a position after analyzing the list of people who have not received nominations,” the Ministry said.

The chairwoman of the National Council of the Judiciary, Judge Pawełczyk-Woicka, also informed on October that the Council had received the president's decision to refuse to appoint 46 judges. She specified that it was a refusal to appoint judges in district and appellate courts. “Several years passed between the recommendation and the rejection,” Pawełczyk-Woicka added in another entry.

– According to my information, in the so-called in the freezer at the president's, at the president's, Andrzej Duda's, and now at Karol Nawrocki's, there were about a hundred potential candidates for the position of judge, and from the information I have, these were people who had passed the competition before the so-called neoKRS, i.e. before an institution that is effectively questioned by Polish legal judges and judges of European tribunals – said Minister Żurek at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

The head of the Ministry of Justice emphasized that he would therefore like to see a list of names of these 46 people. – This is important because the statements of the KPRP representatives indicate – in my opinion – non-substantive grounds for such a refusal, Żurek noted. (PAP)
