Built as an observation post for Royal Observer Corps (ROC) volunteers, the bunker was used to measure shock waves and radioactive contamination in the event of a nuclear attack.
According to Ben Payne, estate agent at David Plaister, the underground dwelling can be turned into a “one-of-a-kind” Airbnb.
“We've had a lot of requests to do a light renovation and turn the place into a one-of-a-kind Airbnb. It would definitely be a very special Airbnb experience.” said the estate agent, according to the BBC.
The bunker includes bunk beds, a small desk and a chemical toilet. Located on a ridge overlooking the Severn Estuary, the underground hideout is accessed via a secure hatch and ladder.
The bunker is located near the village of Hallen on a ridge overlooking the Severn Estuary.
“For the condition it's in and the location it's in, I've never seen anything like it.”added Ben Payne, describing the property as “definitely for history buffs” interested in turning the bunker into a “small museum”.
The bunker is part of a neighboring property, but will be sold separately.
It was one of about 1,500 bunkers built for the observer corps across the country during the height of tensions with the former Soviet Union.
