The head of the Chancellery of the President, Zbigniew Bogucki, said on Wednesday that there was a “logical contradiction” in Prime Minister Donald Tusk's statements about the migration pact. He appealed to the Prime Minister to finally decide whether the migration pact is a good or bad solution.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland would not accept migrants under the migration pact. “As I said, Poland will not accept migrants under the Migration Pact. Nor will it pay for it. That's already a decision. We do it, we don't talk!” – Tusk wrote on Tuesday on the X platform. He commented on the decision of the European Commission, which announced that, among other things, Poland will be able to apply for an exemption from the relocation of migrants for the coming year.
Bogucki: There is a “logical contradiction” in the Prime Minister's statements
When asked at a press conference on Wednesday whether the Chancellery of the President shared the government's enthusiasm, Bogucki noted that there was a “logical contradiction” in the prime minister's statements.
– It would be worth asking Prime Minister Tusk why a few months ago he was convincing all Poles that we would benefit from and be the beneficiaries of the migration pact, and today he is boasting about blocking it – noted the head of the Chancellery of the President. – This is the first logical observation about whether the Prime Minister is telling the truth and when he is telling the truth, because this is a huge problem when it comes to Prime Minister Tusk – added the minister.
He emphasized that the migration pact is a set of legal acts that enter the national legal order, including the Polish one. – The records there are clear. In principle, this pact is valid, Bogucki noted.
As he assessed, the loss of the presidential election by Rafał Trzaskowski and the clear position of President Karol Nawrocki caused Tusk to take into account the opinion of Poles and began to take any action regarding the migration pact.
– Of course, he does this only in the electoral perspective, in order to once again cheat or try to deceive Poles as to his position on the migration pact. Because I will ask the question once again: is this a good solution or is it a bad solution? Let Prime Minister Tusk finally make up his mind, said Bogucki.
“There is no consent to the migration pact at all”
He pointed out that the exemption from the relocation of migrants is to be temporary. – However, President Nawrocki says very clearly that there is no consent to the migration pact at all, i.e. to forced relocation or paying for illegal, and we emphasize illegal, migrants – emphasized the minister. He stressed that the president cannot agree to the migration pact on behalf of Poles who accepted thousands of “real refugees” from the war.
The European Commission said on Tuesday that Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Austria and Poland are facing severe migratory pressure and will be able to apply for full or partial relief from migrant relocation for the coming year under the EU's asylum and migration pact. (PAP)
