President Nicușor Dan commented Tuesday morning on the dispute between the Superior Council of Magistracy and Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu, after the CSM filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office.

“I think that the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister was unfortunate and that the reaction of the CSM was greatly exaggerated. It cannot be said that an opinion constitutes a criminal act. And when it comes, if the request for the approval of the criminal prosecution comes, I will not sign it. It is not a criminal act at all”, said Nicușor Dan, who would receive the request for criminal prosecution of the official, after the CSM complained to him criminal charges for incitement to hatred, discrimination and violence.

Asked if Oana Gheoghiu should remain in office, the head of state replied: “Of course. Everyone makes mistakes. And it's not such a big mistake.”
