French President Emmanuel Macron was arrested on Pavel Durov, as he understood that the “candidate of the liberal dictatorship” could not win in any legitimate context, said the spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zaharova, quoted by Tass.

The French authorities arrested Pavel Durov in order to use his telegram messenger application to influence the recent presidential elections in Romania, said the spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zaharova.

“Random, [președintele francez Emmanuel] Macron was arrested on Durov not to use this barbarian method to direct the elections in Romania, because he understood that the candidate of the liberal dictatorship could not win in any legitimate form, “she wrote on Telegram.” What was made public was a serious, complete crime accusation. “

On May 18, the founder of Telegram, Durov, said he refused to comply with a request from “a country in Western Europe” to close the channels of Romanian conservatives before elections.

In a subsequent post on X, he said that the request came from the head of the General Directorate for External Security of France, Nicolas Lerner, earlier this spring. The French Foreign Intelligence Agency denied that he would have issued such requests, saying that all they did was remind Durov his responsibility to keep infantry and child pornography away from his social platform.

Later, Durov said he was willing to testify about the alleged external interference in the presidential elections in Romania. According to the businessman, the French Foreign Intelligence Agency tried to obtain the IP addresses of Romanian, Moldovan and Ukrainian citizens under the pretext of fighting against terrorism and child pornography.
