LIVE TEXT Black Friday 2025 Between recession and discounts, Romanians keep their appetite for shopping, despite negative economic signals

Black Friday has reached its 15th edition in Romania, and today is again an exceptional day, the moment with the most online shopping of the whole year. Although the economy shows signs of fatigue, inflation remains above the European average and more and more companies are talking about layoffs, Romanians' appetite for shopping remains high.

  • As every year, HotNews.ro transmits LIVE TEXT the most important events of the day.

We love online shopping, fast deliveries, installment payments and the idea of a “good deal”, even in a difficult economic context. Black Friday becomes, year after year, not only a day of discounts, but also one of contrasts – between declared prudence and real growing consumption.

From TVs and phones, to holidays and even cars, Black Friday is undeniably an anticipated event that marks the start of the winter season in online commerce.

Black Friday 2025 is scheduled for November 7, the earliest date yet, three weeks ahead of the US version. In the first Romanian editions, 2011 and 2012, the discount day was after November 20, but eMAG constantly pushed the time so that the products could be delivered until the mini-holiday of December 1.

Several online stores said they expect new sales records, and the company that created this phenomenon in Romania expects sales of 940 million lei, compared to 896 million last year.

Even though purchasing power has declined, Black Friday remains an emotionally charged day: an occasion for satisfaction, a “little treat” in a year marked by political scandals and controversial economic measures.

Retailers expect new records: millions of products sold, thousands of orders per minute and more and more interest-free installment payments. There will be a record share of card payments and more and more parcels will arrive at easybox and will no longer be delivered by couriers to the door.

Black Friday is a special day because people who generally declare themselves cautious and frugal are willing to spend a lot and have a high appetite for consumption on this day.
