Krasnoyarsk residents were told interesting facts about bison at Roevoy Ruchey (video)

In “Swarm Stream” Krasnoyarsk residents were shown how the bison Mulana, Mukha and Murashka live, and were told interesting facts about the animals. A video with artiodactyls was published on the Telegram channel of the Flora and Fauna Park. The footage shows how bison spend time in their enclosure.

According to experts, the majestic bison is the original inhabitant of European forests. The very name “bison” is rooted in the Old Church Slavonic language, where the word “tooth” meant “sharp horn.” At the beginning of the 20th century, these animals were on the verge of extinction, but thanks to scientists they were saved.

The first information about the bison belongs to Aristotle. He described them back in the 4th century BC. In appearance, these animals seem clumsy, however, they run fast, swim well and can easily jump over an obstacle about 1.5 meters high.

The life expectancy of bison is about 25-27 years. The male lives 5-10 years less than the female. Bison communicate with each other using sounds similar to dull grunting. If danger approaches, they snort. Irritation is shown by snoring, anger by rumbling.

Each family group is headed by an experienced female. Males often live alone and come to females only during the mating period.
