Championship Preston's Montenegrin striker Milutin Osmajic (26) has been banned for nine matches for racially abusing Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

The incident took place during the match between the two teams on February 15, which ended in a 0-0 draw. The Montenegrin will also have to pay a fine of 21,000 pounds and take a compulsory educational course.

The 26-year-old will not be able to play until the trip to Stoke City on Boxing Day.

Milutin Osmajic, suspended 9 matches for racism

Osmajic himself denied the allegations throughout the trial, and Preston issued an official statement expressing his disappointment at the Football Association's decision, according to sportal.bg.

After the game in February, Hannibal, the player who fell victim, posted on X: “I will not be silent about what happened today. I will always denounce acts of racism when I hear or see them. This is the only way we can change as a society. I am a strong person, but no one should have to go through this horrible abuse on the field.”

This is the second major sanction that Osmajic receives in England. In 2024, he was banned for eight matches for biting Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck.
