Novak Djokovic, triumphant in Athens, after 2 balanced sets

Just like in the duel with the player from Chile, the first set was extremely balanced. Djokovic and Borges went head-to-head until the tiebreak, where the 38-year-old athlete put his experience to good use and won his inaugural sequence: 7-6 (1).

The balance was maintained, for a while, in the second set as well, but at 3-3, Djokovic broke and took control of the game. In the end, the tennis player with 24 Grand Slam titles prevailed 7-6 (1), 6-4 and qualified for the penultimate act of the tournament in the capital of Greece.

In the semifinals, Djokovic will play either against the American Marcos Giron (32 years old, 72 ATP) or against the German Yannick Hanfmann (33 years old, 117 ATP). This will be the 199th semi-final on the ATP tour for the Serbian player.

Meanwhile, Djokovic also found out his group at the Tournament of Champions, which will take place from November 9-16 in Turin, Italy. The veteran was assigned to Jimmy Connors Bandtogether with the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (22 years old, 2 ATP), the American Taylor Fritz (28 years old, 4 ATP) and the Australian Alex De Minaur (26 years old, 7 ATP).
