A doctor from the Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children in Cluj-Napoca was found dead in the health unit. Doctor Eva Kiss was on duty Friday morning, when she was discovered in cardio-respiratory arrest in the hospital hallway, writes the local press. Police officials confirmed to News.ro that a criminal file was opened in which the circumstances of the death of a doctor are being investigated.

“On November 7 this year, at around 6:30 a.m., the police officers of the Cluj-Napoca Police were alerted to the fact that a 66-year-old woman, a doctor in a hospital in Cluj-Napoca, was found unconscious. The medical team that arrived on the scene performed resuscitation maneuvers, but, unfortunately, the death of the person in question was confirmed,” Cluj Police officials said.

As a result, a medico-legal examination was ordered to determine the cause of death. The police opened a criminal case for manslaughter, to clarify the circumstances in which the death occurred.

The local press notes that the doctor who died is Eva Kiss, a pediatrician, and that she was on duty when she was found dead.

The tragedy takes place less than two weeks after another doctor, Ștefania Szabo, died at the County Hospital in Buzău. Medical director of the Buzău County Emergency Hospital, Dr. Stefania Szabo, was found dead on October 28 by her colleagues.

The body of the surgeon, who had turned 37 at the beginning of October, was discovered before 6 o'clock, in the on-call room of the Surgery department, the manager of the Buzau County Emergency Hospital, Sorin Pătrașcu, told the Buzoian Reporter.

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, said, referring to the death of Ștefania Szabo, that doctors should be listened to more and that counseling support would be important for them when burnout problems or moments of pressure arise.

“We all have to understand that doctors are people too, and they get tired and sometimes have problems. And other problems than those in the health unit. And yes, a psychological support for the medical staff, a counseling support when there are moments of burnout or moments of pressure from different forms or areas, I think is important and I think that doctors should be listened to more,” said the minister on October 29.
