In April, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) plans to open a nearly 30-kilometer section of the A2 motorway from Łukowisko to Biała Podlaska (Lubelskie). By the end of June, drivers will be able to cover the entire 65 km between Siedlce and Biała Podlaska on the highway.

Wednesday's announcement from the Warsaw branch of GDDKiA shows that work on these sections is almost finished and the Provincial Construction Supervision Inspector is conducting the procedure for issuing an occupancy permit.
According to the announcement, another section of the A2 motorway in eastern Poland will be opened to drivers in April – nearly 30 kilometers from Łukowisko to Biała Podlaska. Final works are underway on the part from Łukowiska to Swor, including: installation of fences, nets for amphibians, finishing works on facilities, planting greenery. The Swora – Biała Podlaska section is already completed.
“Drivers will be able to enter and exit the new section of the A2 motorway through the Łukowisko junction (intersection with the current DK19) and Biała Podlaska (at the intersection with provincial road No. 811),” the announcement said.
GDDKiA estimates that the remaining part of the motorway, from the Siedlce Wschód junction to Łukowiska, will be open to traffic by the end of June this year. “Then drivers will be able to cover the entire 65 km between Siedlce and Biała Podlaska on the highway,” it added.
In December, a 10-kilometer section from the Siedlce Południe junction to the Siedlce Wschód junction was opened to traffic.

The A2 Siedlce-Biała Podlaska motorway will have two roadways with two lanes and a reserve for the addition of a third lane. On the route, among others, engineering structures, roads for local traffic, lighting, drainage, environmental protection and road safety devices. New sidewalks and bicycle paths are planned for pedestrians and cyclists. In the future, the motorway will provide access to the car terminal in Koroszczyn near the border with Belarus.
The cost of building four sections of the A2 motorway from Siedlce to Biała Podlaska with a total length of 65.4 km is nearly PLN 3 billion. The investment received over PLN 1.3 billion in funding from the European Union. (PAP)
