On this occasion, his daughter, Elena Băsescu, published on Instagram a photo that captures the former head of state surrounded by his grandchildren, Traian Jr., Sofia and Anastasia. The children embrace him warmly, and their expressions convey joy and sincere affection.

Maria Băsescu, the wife of the former president, also appears in the picture, looking fondly at the family scene. Elena's post was accompanied by the messages “Happy Birthday, Dad!”, “Thanks!” and the symbol of infinity, a sign of boundless love for her father. Elena Băsescu has three children from two relationships. On September 1, 2012, she married Bogdan Ionescu, after a relationship of over three years, keeping her maiden name. The godparents were PDL deputy Răzvan Mustea and his wife, Aura. More than 600 guests attended the party at the Snagov Palace.
The first child, Sofia Anais Ionescu-Băsescu, was born on September 1, 2013, and the baptism took place on November 30, 2013, with the mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoacă, as godfather. On January 31, 2015, Elena gave birth to a little boy, Traian. After the divorce from Bogdan Ionescu, Elena rebuilt her life with Cătălin Tomată, with whom she had her youngest daughter, Anastasia, in June 2018. The two later separated, and Elena never appeared publicly with another partner.
