British police, including the Major Crime Team, are investigating Ernest's murder. The body of a 45-year-old Pole was found on October 8 in a forested part of Southampton Common, near a nature reserve. At the scene, officers also noticed signs of fire. However, at this stage of the investigation, no suspects or motive for the crime have been established.

The charity Crimestoppers, which operates independently of the British police, also got involved in the case. In exchange for information that may lead investigators to determine the circumstances of the Deputy's death, the organization has offered a reward of PLN 20,000. pounds (over PLN 96,000).

As reported by the BBC, Ernest lived outside the system and was known to the homeless community in Southampton. “This tragedy has deeply affected both the victim's loved ones and the wider community,” the charity said.

The police assures that the family of the deceased has been notified and provided with support from specialized officers.

The police are appealing to anyone who has seen smoke or fire in the reserve area in recent months to report information that may assist in the investigation. As part of operational activities during the Park Run, which took place on October 11, district officers talked to participants and hung up posters with QR codes linking to a website enabling anonymous submission of information.
