The same newspaper published an interesting fact that friend of the IKOR commune, Dr. Slaus, bequeathed 17 thousand dollars to the EAO for cultural needs: “According to the will of the deceased, Ikor is purchasing equipment for the printing house being built in Birobidzhan. Linotypes, a printing press and zincography are being purchased, which will soon be shipped to Birobidzhan.”

November 4, 1938

An “Extra” type radio broadcasting transmitter with a power of 10 kilowatts was put into permanent operation, which was supposed to provide radio broadcasting to the Jewish Autonomous Region. This is how the Birobidzhan Regional Radio Center was formed.

The main development of the radio center took place in the 1960s. The introduction of new transmitting and receiving devices with single-sideband modulation has begun. Transceiver and receive radio stations with a power of 30 watts, designed to operate in telegraph and telephone modes, began to operate for intraregional radio communications.

In 1960, the first TRSO-30 repeater was installed on a hill in Birobidzhan. In 1961, a technical building was built and a 55-meter tower was installed.

In the period 1961-1969. The development of television began throughout the region. Radio station No. 1 was completely re-equipped with new equipment to replace the morally and physically outdated one. In 1966, a long-wave transmitter was put into operation to work for the first central Union program.

Today RTPC EAO is a developing enterprise. Commissioning of new capacities continues. Partnerships with broadcasters are expanding. New technologies are being developed using television and new telecommunications media.
