CBA at a large medical institute. The agents detained three people

The Central Anticorruption Bureau detained three people, including: one in a managerial position in one of the specialized medical institutes in Warsaw – the Bureau's press team reported on Monday. The investigation concerns corruption in public procurement.

Officers from the Warsaw branch of the Bureau also detained an entrepreneur and a former employee of the public procurement department at a health care facility. The arrests took place on October 28, and documentation and data carriers that may be evidence in the case were also seized.

The investigation conducted by the CBA and supervised by the District Prosecutor's Office in Sieradz concerns corruption in public procurement for health care facilities and the acceptance of financial benefits by persons performing public functions.

According to the findings of the Bureau's officers, financial benefits were received in total of approximately PLN 110,000. zloty – money and vehicles for use by persons performing public functions. The corruption allegedly occurred in the years 2020–2022, and as a result, officials were to make favorable decisions when purchasing services, equipment or decontamination agents for health care facilities.

The entrepreneur detained by the CBA was allegedly providing financial benefits for decisions favorable to him in public procurement for a medical institute. Investigators believe that he also encouraged people to issue unreliable VAT invoices with a total value of approximately PLN 100,000. zloty. for the benefit of the company he represented – according to CBA information.

The other two detained by the Bureau allegedly accepted cash, but also benefits in the form of leasing fees, rental costs and insurance of the vehicles provided to them for use.

The press secretary of the District Prosecutor's Office in Sieradz, Prosecutor Jolanta Szkilnik, said in a press release that the detainees heard, among others: charges of tax fraud, use of false documents, official venality and bribery.

The prosecutor suspended the detained person holding a managerial position at a medical institute from performing his official duties. He imposed bail on everyone, banned them from leaving the country and contacting indicated persons, and ordered police supervision.
