In Krasnoyarsk, on November 1, a new Russian record was set for simultaneous games of floor curling – 565 participants played simultaneously on 20 tracks. The event took place at the Olympiets sports complex on Otdykha Island.
The record event opened the international festival “Cup of the Siberian Curling Academy”, dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the development of this sport in the region. Students, work teams, family teams, schoolchildren and veterans took part in establishing the achievement.
“Curling is becoming increasingly popular, because it is one of the most accessible sports for a wide audience – children, adults, and veterans can play it. Today's record is a clear confirmation of this. It’s especially pleasant that even without ice, in the format of floor curling, we see such excitement and involvement,” said Denis Petrovsky, Minister of Sports of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The Russian Curling Federation officially recorded a record that will be included in the Krasnoyarsk Book of City Records.
