There are more and more Poles who do not want the return of compulsory military service. “We can see a change in mood, because half a year ago more than half of the respondents supported this solution,” writes “Rzeczpospolita” in its Monday edition.

“The study conducted by IBRiS on behalf of “Rzeczpospolita” shows that only 39.2 percent respondents accept the restoration of compulsory military service in Poland due to the current international situation. 45.5% are against such a solution, and 15.3% have no opinion. – the newspaper reported.

The study shows that “supporters of the current government support the restoration of compulsory military service, people over seventy (59%), residents of small villages (42%), and people with primary, secondary and higher education think so (39% of responses in each of these groups).” According to “Rz”, “they mainly get information about the situation in the world from Polsat Events (52%), and they place their political views on the left.”

A study commissioned by “Rzeczpospolita” shows that opponents of compulsory military service are “mostly non-voters (50%), women (49%), thirty-year-olds (59%) and people from Generation Z (58%), i.e. potentially those who could be drafted into the army, residents of large cities (54%), and with higher education (52%).” “They mostly get their knowledge about the world from TVP Info news channels (58%), and they place their political views in the center (49%),” writes “Rz.”

IBRiS conducted the study on October 24-25, 2025 on a nationwide sample of 1,067 people. (PAP)
