The Russian Federation imposed sanctions against Sviridenko and a number of former Ukrainian ministers


In addition to Sviridenko, the sanctions included Minister of Finance Sergei Marchenko, head of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Alexey Sobolev, ex-Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denis Malyuska, as well as ex-Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov.

Measures were also introduced against the former deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Rostislav Shurma, the Cabinet Commissioner for Gender Policy Katerina Levchenko, former Minister Oleg Nemchinov and the executive director of the reform office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Tatyana Kovtun.

In connection with which the Russian Federation imposed sanctions against representatives of the Ukrainian government, the propagandists did not indicate. However, on October 31, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the introduction of a ban on the entry into the Russian Federation of representatives of European institutions in response to the 19th package of European Union sanctions against Moscow.

Context

Sanctions against Russia were introduced in response to its attack on Ukraine back in 2014. After the full-scale invasion of Russian troops on February 24, 2022, restrictions were significantly expanded.
