CTP accuses PSD of wanting to trade influence with the US president: “Hence the Sprâncean solution, which saved Romania because it would have pulled the strings with Trump”

Journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu published a text on Sunday, November 2, in which he spoke about “PSD's current political philosophy towards Washington”, stating of the social democrats that their “express their deep belief in solving problems through influence peddling, not through institutional, official and professional relationships.”

In the first part of the post, he recalls some episodes from the period when Marcel Ciolacu was the prime minister of Romania. According to the journalist, PSD wants to solve the problems through personal relations and direct influence on Donald Trump, instead of using official and professional diplomatic channels.

“What has the PSD been shouting since Ciolacu's time? That Romanian diplomacy is not doing enough to be on the same page with Trump. Not with the United States, not with the State Department, not with the Senate or the House of Representatives, but with Donald Trump as a natural person. Or, at least, with someone who has access to him. In fact, the desire of the Pedestrians expresses their deep belief in solving problems through influence peddling, not through institutional, official and professional relations”. CTP states.

“From here, the Sprâncean solution, the shiny lifeguard that saves Romania”

He also mentions Dragoș Sprânceană, one of the two special emissaries appointed by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu in the USA, whom he called “the shiny lifeguard who saved Romania because he would have pulled the strings with Trump.” In the spring, Sprânceana declared that the Trump administration should ignore the pro-Ukraine statements coming from Bucharest, as long as Romania has an interim president.

Hence, the Eyebrow solution – as if that's what he called him – the shiny lifeguard who saved Romania because he would have pulled the strings with Trump. Hence Știucă-Grindeanu's claims that we should have “arranged” the withdrawal of American troops from all of Eastern Europe, but not from Romania. That Oana Gheorghiu and Bolojan are to blame for a long-announced American political-military move and far above the head of Romania and all of Europe”, wrote CTP.

Next, the journalist criticizes the PSD for punishing citizens for their personal opinions, comparing the behavior to communist methods, and mentions that in the US Congress is working on a law that would prevent the withdrawal of American troops from Europe.

“Accusing Mrs. Gheorghiu for the indignant post, when she was a private person, against the miserable behavior of Trump and Vance towards Zelenski, PSD accuses all the Romanian citizens, millions, who had similar posts. None of them would have the right to be appointed to a government position, regardless of merit. Just like the communists: this one blew the whistle in the Church, her father had simigeria or cauldron of brandy, therefore he is not allowed to take the exam at the college.

Now, here's a very powerful group of Republican and Democratic senators and representatives in the US Congress who want to introduce legislation to block the withdrawal of American troops from Europe ordered by the Pentagon.” continues Cristian Tudor Popescu.

CTP: “Even the US Army Veterans Association opposes this maneuver”

CTP also states that the departure of the 600 American soldiers from Romania, presented by Trump as “unimportant”, is a strategic mistake that favors Russia and damages confidence in NATO.

“The unimportant matter, “no big deal”, of the departure of the 600 US soldiers from Romania, as dispatched by Trump, is qualified as “a major mistake towards a solid and reliable ally like Romania”, a mistake “in favor of Putin and against America's strategic interests”.

Even the American Army Veterans Association opposes this maneuver, warning that it “undermines confidence in Article 5 of NATO”. Who says, what do we do, where should we have a file, in the White House, in the Pentagon or in Congress?”, he states.

Last but not least, CTP declares that the attempts of some leaders to align themselves with Trump are not yielding results, it offers the example of Hungary, where Prime Minister Viktor Orban “he contorted with all his might to please the King”, but wheretroops are to be withdrawn”.

“But it goes well with Trump? It's going to hell – V. Orban, who contorted himself with all his might to please the King, got ninny, canci in Hungarian – troops are also to be withdrawn from Hungary, and Washington's ban on the import of oil and gas from Russia does not bypass the “rascal” Orban in any way. Trump also made fun of the Hungarian Viktor, with the slur Má-ta Peace Party from Budapest (why didn't we take this stake from Trump?, PSD rent).

What are we actually talking about? All the current political philosophy of the PSD towards Washington and the European powers is perfectly summed up by… who do you think? By Traian Băsescu himself. And it sounds like this: “Rather than suck it at several smaller fireflies, I'd rather suck it at the bigger firefly” conclude CTP.
