On Thursday, June 5, 2025, the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court, together with the police from the Homici Service and supported by the special troops, descended to the homes of some medical staff.
“On the morning of 05.06.2025, the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court and the police within the General Police Directorate of the Municipality of Bucharest – the Homicurii Service, with the support of the Special Action Service, have executed mandates of home search in Bucharest, at the dwellings of medical staff.”, It is shown in the official statement.
Doctors brought with mandate to hearings
Mandals were issued for two medical staff, who were taken to the Prosecutor's Office for hearings. In addition, two other witnesses are to be heard in the same file.
“Mandates were issued on behalf of 2 medical staff, these will be run and heard at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court. In the same circumstances, two witnesses will be heard at the Prosecutor's Office headquarters”, The investigators said.
The investigation concerns the circumstances in which several patients admitted to the Anesthesia and Intensive Care section of the “Sf. Pantelimon” Hospital between March 16, 2022 and April 4, 2024.
Open inquiry in 2024: Serious charges
The case came to light in August 2024, when two doctors were arrested. They are accused of unjustifiably reduced the doses of noradrenaline administered to patients in serious condition, without recording these changes in the medical sheets.
According to prosecutors, The two doctors would have ordered the nurses not to operate in the medical sheets the modification of the adrenaline dose.
However, the nurses would have restored the doses after the two doctors left the section, and this intervention would have saved the lives of some patients, the investigators say.
What is noradrenaline and how it works
Noradrenaline is a vital drug, used in intensive therapy to stabilize blood pressure in emergency situations. Although it is naturally produced by the body, in critical cases it is artificially administered by injectomates – specialized devices that deliver precisely small doses of drug, regulated in milliliters per hour.
This substance acts as a vasoconstrictor, increasing blood pressure by narrowing the blood vessels. It is administered only in the short term, exclusively in adults and under strict medical supervision.
The investigation at the “St. Pantelimon” Hospital continues, and investigators are trying to determine exactly whether the reduction of doses of noradrenaline contributed to the death of patients admitted to ATI.
