Venezuela asks for military aid. The letter was received by, among others, Vladimir Putin

The requests to the Kremlin came in the form of a letter addressed to Vladimir Putin, which was allegedly delivered to him by a senior Venezuelan official during a visit to Moscow this month.

Maduro also wrote a letter to Chinese leader Xi Jinping, expressing Caracas' desire for “deepened military cooperation” with Beijing to deal with the “escalation between the US and Venezuela.”

The president asked China to speed up the production of radar systems by Chinese companies – probably so that Venezuela could increase its capabilities in this area – the daily reported.

Russia is the “lifeline” of Venezuela

The documents show that Transport Minister Ramon Celestino Velasquez recently coordinated the shipment of military equipment and drones from Iran and plans to visit the country. He allegedly told Iran that Venezuela needed “passive detection devices”, “GPS scramblers” and “almost certainly drones with a range of 1,000 km.”

In the letter, he was supposed to present US military actions against Venezuela as activities aimed at China due to the ideological closeness of these countries, the documents said.

The daily noted that Russia is Venezuela's main lifeline. On Sunday (October 26), a Russian Il-76 transport plane, which is subject to US sanctions, landed in the capital Caracas. A day earlier, Moscow ratified a new treaty on strategic relations with Venezuela.

On Friday, US President Donald Trump denied planning attacks on military installations in Venezuela. Earlier, the Miami Herald reported that the decision on the attacks had already been made, and the president himself announced strikes against drug gangs on land.

Most of the US attacks on boats believed to be carrying drugs took place off the coast of Venezuela. The US accuses Maduro of directing drug smuggling. They have been gathering forces in the region for weeks, made two demonstration bomber flights towards Venezuela and sent the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier strike group there from Europe.
