In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a forest arsonist will pay 900 thousand to extinguish the fire

A resident of the Shushensky district will pay 900 thousand rubles to extinguish the forest fire that he started. The regional prosecutor's office spoke about this.

In April 2025, a large forest fire occurred on the territory of the Verkhne-Yenisei district forestry, covering an area of ​​5.2 hectares. In conditions of gusty winds and dry weather, extinguishing the fire required considerable effort and lasted more than two days. Direct budget expenses for eliminating the fire amounted to 900 thousand rubles.​

“Later it turned out that the cause of the fire was the careless handling of fire by a local resident who was burning dry vegetation on his land. Due to the wind, the fire got out of control, spread to the forest and created a real threat to forest plantations, property and people’s lives,” the prosecutor’s office said.

In order to recover from the person responsible for the fire the costs incurred by the budget to extinguish it, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit. The court satisfied the claims and recovered the entire amount from the man.​

In addition, he was fined 50 thousand rubles for violating fire safety rules (Part 4 of Article 8.32 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).

The prosecutor's office reminds that the burning of dry vegetation and careless handling of fire in the forest can lead to serious consequences and entail not only administrative, but also criminal liability.
