The story began in January 2024, when a local resident was denied free revaccination at a clinic. After the official response from the regional Ministry of Health, she had to get vaccinated for a fee of 800 rubles.
For more than a year, the woman, through the supervisory authorities, has been trying to get the authorities to establish a system for purchasing vaccines. According to the non-profit organization Herd Immunity, which advocates for her, the lack of free vaccination in the region is a serious problem.
Adults are forced to pay for vaccinations themselves, although according to federal law, vaccination in endemic areas should be free. The organization classifies the Krasnoyarsk Territory as endemic.
Every year, about 300 cases of encephalitis are registered in the region, which is 18% of the national level. The figure is the highest in the country.
According to statistics, vaccination coverage in the Krasnoyarsk Territory is only 35%, while the required 95%. A year ago, the court already considered a similar case and sided with the applicant, but the region never began purchasing vaccines against tick-borne encephalitis.
