The president, wearing a red cap with the inscription USA, spent almost an hour handing out Hershey's chocolate bars and Twizzlers candies with the White House seal to children dressed in colorful costumes. The most creative costumes included: a cart converted into a McDonald's drive-thru window, overalls known from the Squid Game series, and costumes imitating Trump and the First Lady. The president gave the latter a high five.

The event began with the sounds of Michael Jackson's song “Thriller” played by a military band in front of the south portico of the White House decorated with orange leaves, pumpkins and the inscription “Halloween 2025”. After almost an hour of handing out sweets to families standing in a queue stretching hundreds of meters Trump said he had to attend a campaign event before Tuesday's state elections in Virginia.
— It's a long queue. Almost as long as the ballroom — Trump joked, referring to his controversial plans to build a huge ballroom at the White House.
The president attended the event two hours after he returned to Washington after a dozen-hour flight from South Korea.
The tradition dates back almost 70 years
Hundreds of families were invited to the White House on this occasion, mainly policemen, soldiers, adoptive and foster families, as well as winners of the lottery for tickets to the event. Children of White House officials also received sweets, including: spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt and top Trump adviser Stephen Miller. Among the guests there was also a group of Polish women and young Poles who, as they told the Polish Press Agency, came to the White House from New Jersey for this occasion.
Halloween parties have been hosted at the White House since 1958, usually by First Ladies. The tradition was started by President Dwight Eisenhower's wife, Mary “Mamie”.
