The nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize ended on January 31, and the Nobel Committee analyzed 338 candidates, of which 244 people and 94 organizations. The proposals can be made by heads of state, members of governments, former Nobel laureates and university professors from all over the world.
In addition to Machado and Trump, other names for this year's Nobel included the Emergency Rooms volunteer network in Sudan, who risks lives to help the war and hunger, the widow of Russian dissident Alexei Navalnîi, Iulia Navalnaia, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Palestinians, doctors without borders and journalists without borders.

The details about nominations and winners remain confidential for 50 years, according to the rules set by Alfred Nobel in his will.
The Nobel Peace Prize was created to reward significant efforts for fraternity between nations, disarmament or abolition of permanent armies and for organizing congresses for peace.
The first laureate was appointed in 1901: the scientist and the French politician Frédéric Passy and the Swiss businessman Jean Henry Dunant, co-founder of the Red Cross.
