It has been 10 years since the Colectiv disaster. Following the fire that took place on October 30, 2015, 64 people died, over 100 were injured and transported to 11 hospitals in the capital.

The people of Giulești did not forget the tragedy that happened a decade ago and displayed a message at the game with Dumbrăvița: “10.30.2015”. They also sent “RIP Teodora Maftei”, in memory of the photojournalist who died at Colectiv.

In addition to the tribute paid to the victims from Colectiv, the rapidist gallery recalled two other tragedies that struck Romania. One happened two weeks ago.

On October 17, a devastating explosion occurred in a Rahova block, caused by a gas leak. Three people died. The tenants were evacuated urgently, the risk of the building collapsing being high.

“17.10.2025”, was the message displayed by the Rapidului gallery in Giulesti, to pay tribute following the tragedy in Rahova.

Tribute also for a huge tragedy 54 years ago

Another message that appeared on the lawn was “10/30/1971”. It refers to a disaster that happened 54 years ago. Then, at Certej, one of the biggest mining disasters in Romania took place.

The communist regime reported 89 dead and 76 injured. However, there would have been many more victims, according to historians and witnesses. The communist regime censored the actual death toll.
