Increasing the tariff for transmission and dispatching of electricity does not correspond to the strategic interests of Ukraine
NEC Ukrenergo proposes to increase the tariff for electricity transmission in 2026 by 24%, and for dispatching – by 45%. The business community warns that it will hit the industry, the competitiveness of manufacturers and the investment climate.
The Ukrainian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine) called for a review of these plans, because raising tariffs in wartime conditions contradicts the strategic interests of the state. The President of ICC Ukraine, Volodymyr Shchelkunov, also pointed to questionable calculations: Ukrenergo plans to increase costs even though the volume of electricity transmission will decrease.
Instead of raising tariffs and putting industry under attack, ICC Ukraine proposes to conduct an independent audit of tariffs, limit their growth until the end of the war, and ensure an open dialogue between the government, the regulator and business.
