“Justice for Poland! The Polish right wing won a huge victory in the presidential elections. Since then, the pro-Brussels Polish government has launched a political campaign against it,” Orban wrote on social media, posting a photo with Ziobro.

“Today I met former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro in Budapest. The Polish government is trying to have him arrested. All this in the heart of Europe, while Brussels remains silent. We live in absurd times,” he added.

On Monday, Ziobro participated in a discussion accompanying the screening of the documentary “Takeover” organized in Budapest, directed by Marcin Tulicki, which is intended to depict “the dismantling of the rule of law and the takeover of state institutions and the media” by Donald Tusk's government.

The meeting was also attended by Gergely Gulyas, head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's office, who, together with the former Minister of Justice, commented on the granting of political asylum in Hungary to the former deputy head of the Ministry of Justice of Poland, Marcin Romanowski.

The wPolityce.pl portal reports that Ziobro denied in an interview that he had applied for political asylum in Hungary. “I did not submit any applications, any documents in this case, anywhere, in any country,” said the former Minister of Justice, quoted by wPolityce.pl.

Tusk on Ziobro's meeting with Orban: either in custody or in Budapest

“Either in custody or in Budapest,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X after receiving information about Ziobro's meeting with Orban.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski wrote: “What do you think, will there be asylum or not?”

Government spokesman Adam Szłapka also commented on the meeting. “Soon, the parliamentary club will hold meetings at Orban's,” he wrote on X.

On Tuesday, the Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek submitted to the Sejm a request to waive the immunity of Ziobro, currently a PiS MP, as well as to detain and arrest him. The case concerns, among others, rigging competitions for multi-million grants from the Justice Fund.

Marshal Szymon Hołownia, asked about the date of the prosecutor's motion, said that the document was sent for formal control on Tuesday, after which it would go to Ziobro himself and the parliamentary committee.
