According to the publication Vremea Nouă, the request was made by parish priest Marius Oatu, from the Viișoara suburb. He asks the institution led by Lucian Braniște for financial aid of 185,889 lei (approximately 36,000 euros) for the purchase of a catapetesma.
“Viisoara Parish in the municipality of Vaslui is in the process of beautifying and equipping the church dedicated to the “Birth of St. John the Baptist” in order to conduct services and religious activities in appropriate conditions.
In this sense, we want to create a carved wooden pediment, an essential element of Orthodox worship, which will contribute both to the artistic and patrimonial value of the place of worship, as well as to the spiritual life of our community. Considering the importance of the project and the limited financial resources of the parish, we ask you to grant financial support from the Vaslui City Hall, in accordance with the legal provisions regarding the support of religious units.
We assure you of our full appreciation and prayers for the smooth running of the local public administration“, it is stated in the request submitted by priest Oatu.
No amount was specified in the document, the City Hall of Vaslui deciding to cover the entire cost of the purchase of the katapetesma.
