Rarely does a country house or dacha remain unnoticed by mice. With the onset of cold weather, rodents are increasingly looking for warm shelters, penetrating into living spaces. Summer residents and owners of private houses are faced with an acute question: how to get rid of uninvited guests?
There are many methods – from mechanical traps to poisonous baits. However, such methods are not always safe: poisons can pose a threat to pets and children, and traps are too radical and unethical.
Housekeeping expert Svetlana Serebryakova offers an effective and at the same time humane solution – the use of a folk remedy that will repel mice without causing them serious harm.
The main assistant in the fight against rodents is ground red pepper. Its pungent smell is a powerful repellent for mice: they instinctively avoid it. Moreover, upon contact with air, tiny particles of pepper fall on the mucous membranes of the nose and eyes of rodents, causing irritation and burning, which forces them to leave the room.
How to use:
- Sprinkle crushed red pepper around the perimeter of the house, especially in areas where there are possible entries – near baseboards, floor cracks, near pipes, in basements and storage rooms.
- Pay special attention to food storage areas and boxes with winter items.
- Repeat every 1-2 weeks, especially after cleaning or dampness, to maintain the effect.
The method is absolutely safe for people and pets, provided there is no direct contact with loose pepper (do not scatter it on open kitchen surfaces). At the same time, it does not leave toxic traces and does not pollute the environment.
