The North American league MLS officially announced that the South Korean striker Heung-Min Sonregistered at Los Angeles FCwon the trophy for “Goal of the Year 2025”, a distinction given for the most beautiful achievement of the season.

The winning goal was scored on August 23 against FC Dallas and was chosen by fan votes on the official MLSSoccer.com website. The execution stood out in the 6th minute of the game when Son converted a free-kick flawlessly, sending the ball over the wall and straight at the crossbar.

Voting for the “goal” award opened at the end of October, and the fans decided that the South Korean star's achievement should be named the most spectacular of the 2025 season.

The South Korean superstar won the award for his magnificent free kick in the 1-1 draw with FC Dallas on August 23. It was his first MLS goal, scored in LAFC's third game following his Premier League-record move from Tottenham Hotspur.

Heung-Min Son made an immediate impact in the US

Since his MLS debut in August, Son has impressed with his numbers: 9 goals and 3 assists in 10 regular season games.

Together with Denis Bouanga, the second striker of the Americans, the two managed a spectacular series, scoring together 18 consecutive goals for Los Angeles.

He left Tottenham after a decade

Quoted at 20 million euros on the specialized website Transfermarkt, Heung-Min Son left the Tottenham Hotspur club this summer, after a decade spent in the Premier League. In the shirt of the Londoners, the Asian striker ticked off 454 matches, scoring 173 goals and providing 101 decisive assists.

In his career, Son also played for Buan, Hupyeong, Yukminkwan, Dongbuk, Seoul, Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen before becoming a legend at Tottenham and later a star in MLS.
