The confusion surrounding Warner Bros. Discovery doesn't bother investors


As “Rzeczpospolita” notes, since the first reports by the Financial Times about potential ownership changes at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), the company's shares recorded a significant increase. Prices rose from around $8. to $21.15 per share, which translated into a market capitalization exceeding USD 52 billion.
Interestingly, the management board of WBD estimated that in August 2024 the appropriate price per share would be USD 25, which would mean a capitalization of over USD 60 billion. Although no decisions regarding ownership changes have been announced yet, the market reacted optimistically.
Stable financial results and growth of the streaming segment
“Rzeczpospolita” calculates that in the second quarter of 2025, WBD reached $9.8 billion. revenue, which is a result comparable to the same period a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA amounted to USD 1.96 billion, and net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company reached USD 1.6 billion.
The largest increase in revenue was recorded in the Streaming and Studio segment. The number of subscribers to WBD-owned streaming platforms increased by 3.4 million, reaching the total number 125.7 million users. This number includes subscribers to services such as HBO Max, Discovery+, Cinemax, Player and paid sports platforms.

Speculations about the future of WBD continue, especially as the publication of results for the third quarter of 2025, scheduled for November 6, approaches. In the half-year report, the company warned that the second half of the year would bring significant financial expenses.
