The shocking moment a mob, reportedly made up of migrants, wreaked havoc on the streets of Moscow was caught on camera and shared on social media.

The terrifying footage shows hooligans running after civilians in the street before attacking them and destroying cars and buildings.

Eleven of the attackers were arrested and charged with hooliganism. According to the Russian authorities, many of them are now at risk of deportation, being construction workers of foreign origin, reports The Sun.

Police are still investigating what sparked the chaos in the Russian capital. The mass fight broke out around 12:00 in the Prokshino residential complex in Moscow, according to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow.

Panicked residents of the complex claim to have seen up to 15 hooded men gathered in the area hours before the attack began.

The crowd was filmed suddenly storming a busy street around the blocks. Most wore black clothes with hoods or hats covering their faces. They were armed with large shovels and thick iron bars, passing moving cars and parked cars.

Some can be seen jumping over the locked garden fences of the block of flats, while others vented their anger in the complex's car park, smashing the windscreens of several cars. At one point, several of the men throw their guns across the street as they chase several people.
