Zelensky in Brussels: Not only the US has long-range weapons. We are talking to other countries

Long-range weapons are not only in the USA, some European countries also have such weapons, including Tomahawk missiles, and we are talking to them, said the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Thursday in Brussels. Russian leader Vladimir Putin understands that such weapons can change the course of the war, he added.

Zelensky took part in the EU summit in Brussels.

“We are meeting at a very important moment, when Russia has not yet turned frost into a weapon, but is actively trying to do so right now,” he told EU leaders. In his opinion, Russia wants Ukraine to enter the winter season with a long-term power outage.

Zelensky warned the leaders of EU countries that attacks on the Ukrainian energy system are not just a local problem or a conflict between two distant countries, but show what future wars may look like.

– We must shape our policy to stop Russia's destructive actions from spreading or repeating themselves in Europe and elsewhere. When we talk, for example, about long-range weapons for Ukraine, we mean that the Putin regime should feel the real consequences of this war, he emphasized.

The Ukrainian leader noted that long-range weapons are not only in the United States. – Some European countries also have it, including Tomahawks. We are already talking to countries that can help, he said.

– We see how angry Putin was when this topic came up. He understands that long-range weapons can really change the course of war, Zelensky argued.

He encouraged countries that have not yet joined the US weapons financing program for Ukraine, PURL. – PURL not only helps Ukraine, but also helps maintain US interest in Europe. It shows America that Europe is doing its part, said the Ukrainian president.

In his opinion, the level of European security will increase thanks to the EU SAFE defense loan program, to which 19 EU countries have joined. – The SAFE program can also be very effective, (…) but it will only work if it is clearly linked to this war, because this war shows what really works and what doesn't, Zelensky said.
