In an evening where the NBA was rocked by the arrests of Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier, 4 teams in the North American basketball league put on a respectable show, with both games needing overtime.

On the third night of the new NBA season, the Indiana Pacers hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder in a repeat of the June finals, and the Golden State Warriors faced the Denver Nuggets, both teams featuring stars.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander proved he deserved the MVP award and led his team to victory

After losing the Finals in the summer, the Pacers set out to get revenge against the Thunder and defend their home court. But the visitors, who had also won the first night in extra time, showed that they are willing to fight for every game and build a team capable of defending their title.

A great duel ensued which required 2 overtime periods to determine the winner. In the end, Oklahoma City Thunder won 141-135thanks to an outstanding performance by 2024-25 MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: 55 points (personal best), 8 rebounds, 5 assists.

Ajay Mitchell (26 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds) and Aaron Wiggins (23 points, 9 rebounds) also stood out from the defending champion team. On the other side, the hosts' leaders were Bennedict Mathurin (36 points, 11 rebounds), Pascal Siakam (32 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists) and Obi Toppin (20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists).

Aaron Gordon's 50 points were not enough for Steph Curry's mastery

The second game of the night took place in the Chase Center in San Francisco, where the Golden State Warriors, the most successful team in the last 10 years, received the visit of the Denver Nuggets, the champion in 2023.

And this game needed overtime. The guests were led by Aaron Gordon in great form (50 points, 8 rebounds) and Nikola Jokic who achieved a triple-double (21 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists), but Steph Curry was unstoppable for the hosts: 42 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds.
