Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan suggested to those in the PSD to make an alliance with AUR if they are dissatisfied with the current Government. In response, the interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, claimed on Friday that the party did not discuss such an option.
Sorin Grindeanu was asked by journalists, on Friday, in Olt, if PSD, with him in charge, will form a governing alliance with AUR.
“We decided to enter into an alliance with PNL, USR, UDMR and minorities, not just 100 people from the National Political Committee, but we made an extended vote in the party, almost 5,000 people voted to join this coalition. I am not aware of any coalition that you PSD-AUR are talking about. We have not even discussed such a thing,” said Grindeanu, quoted by News.ro.
The interim president of the PSD said that in order to make another alliance, the party should leave the current coalition, which it does not want.
“In order to enter into a matter of this type, we would have to leave the current coalition, which we do not want. It is not a matter that I want to comment on, because I have no reason to. The PSD, at the moment it decided to enter this coalition, we understand to be serious partners, people who bring added value through the public policies proposed to this coalition and this government. We have no other thoughts at this moment. Totally excluded”. Sorin Grindeanu also said.
In August, Sorin Grindeanu declared that as long as he is in charge of the PSD party, he will not make an alliance with AUR: “Not in my mandate”.
However, George Simion does not rule out an alliance with the PSD
George Simion, the leader of the AUR, was asked at the beginning of this week, in the Parliament, if he is considering an alliance with the PSD, in order to enter the government. He claimed that he does not want the party he leads to form a government with “these forces that canceled the elections in Romania”, but as a remedial measure for the cancellation of the 2024 election, he could support any government, even one formed by the PSD, but with one condition.
“As a reparative measure for the annulment of the elections and for what Mr. Călin Georgescu suffered, I announced my support for any formula in which Mr. Călin Georgescu would be the prime minister of such a coalition. Without having claims that we (ed.: AUR) be part of that governing formula,” the AUR leader said on Monday.
Ilie Bolojan advised Grindeanu to make an alliance with AUR if he does not like the measures of the current Government
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared, Thursday evening, on Antena 3, that statements like those made this week by PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu create two types of “problems”, one related to “economic consequences” and another related to “people's trust”.
“In the conditions in which any party considers that the Government is not doing its duty, it has the possibility to submit motions of censure and make a majority in the Parliament in such a way that, with AUR, whoever it can be, the government leaves. It is not a problem, but I will tell you the effects of this type of statements and these things that sometimes happen in the coalition”, declared Ilie Bolojan on Thursday evening.
Ilie Bolojan's reaction came after Sorin Grindeanu launched an attack on the prime minister on Monday, after the CCR rejected the draft law adopted by the Government related to the reform of magistrates' pensions. Grindeanu accused Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan of not having a dialogue with the magistrates and of not taking into account President Nicușor Dan's proposals regarding this law.
