Apple will launch a function of detecting hypertension on its smartwatch next week, after receiving the approval of the American Food and Medicine Administration (FDA) on Thursday, according to Bloomberg News and Reuters.
The company presented a blood pressure monitor in the most recent Apple Watch at the September 9 event, where it also presented an updated iPhone range, including an iPhone Air more than the rest of the range.
The new function waiting for the approval of the US regulators, will not detect each case of high blood pressure, but it could alert about one million people, Apple said.
Available in 150 countries, the instrument will use data from the optical cardiac sensor to follow how a user's blood vessels respond to the heartbeat over 30 days, according to the company.
The feature will be available on the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, Series 11 and its more expensive Ultra 2 and Ultra 3 smartwatch, said Bloomberg News.
Apple presented his new range of smart watches on Tuesday, including the 11 Series at $ 399, the model 3 cheaper at $ 249 and the Ultra 3 high-end model.
The company has presented new health and safety features, including the function of hypertension on the 11 series and satellite connectivity on Ultra 3.
