The recently commissioned element of the S1 expressway is not only a key element of the trans-European TEN-T road network connecting the Baltic Sea with Southern Europe. First of all, it is an extremely picturesque road that can provide drivers with unique experiences.

As the authorities of the Silesian Voivodeship praise, it is not only convenient for tourists, but also an impulse for trade, logistics and the development of border regions. As we read on the website of the Silesian municipality, the new Węgierska Górka bypass is an 8.5 km long section that connects the Węgierska Górka (formerly Przybędza) junction with the Milówka junction.
The road is a dual carriageway on a section of 4.7 km, and a single carriageway on a length of 3.8 km. During this section there are two tunnels with a length of 1,000 km. and 830 m.

“This road was extremely long-awaited, but very difficult to implement. In practice, it is a technological masterpiece in the heart of the Beskid Mountains,” emphasized the Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak, during the road opening ceremony.

The construction cost PLN 1.4 billion, and the entire investment also includes bridges, flyovers and two tunnels. As Silesian Marshal Wojciech Saługa admitted, the section open to drivers was one of the most difficult road projects implemented in the region. Its significance is also international.

The Silesian Marshal emphasizes the importance of the new section, among others: for connecting the Beskid Żywiecki with Slovakia. In turn, for local government officials and residents, it is important that the Węgierska Górka bypass will reduce traffic in the center of the town by 30-40%. Importantly, trucks will disappear from residential areas, approximately 2,000 of which passed through there. daily.
