Fernando Alonso (44) has said he is betting on Max Verstappen in the fight for the Formula 1 world title against the two McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
The Mexican Formula 1 Grand Prix takes place this weekend, October 24-26. The race will be broadcast live on Antena 3 CNN and AntenaPLAY, from 22:00.
Max Verstappen, the favorite of Fernando Alonso
The Aston Martin driver said he sees Max Verstappen as favorite on the way to another world title.
“I think Verstappen can get the most out of his car. When his car dominates, he can win the title and improve records throughout the season. And when his car is not as good or not the fastest, he again sets strong laps in qualifying, runs strong races and fights for the title,” said the Spanish driver.
First of all, Max is a 4-time world champion. This is not a common thing. He is one of the best drivers in Formula 1 history.

Alonso stated that this season Verstappen is fighting against drivers who have a better car, the one from McLaren.
“Max is at a high level, a very high level. And this year it is clear that he is fighting against a car that surpasses his, in this case McLaren. But when it comes to a fight in the last race, he becomes the leader. As I said before, the McLaren drivers have enough of a lead in terms of the car to fight each other for the title. But Max can win, as we saw in 2021, when his car was slightly weaker than the of Mercedes. And yet he won the title in Abu Dhabi,” he added.

At the moment, Verstappen is third in the standings with 306 points and has 40 points to make up to equal the leader, Oscar Piastri. In second place is Lando Norris with 332 points.
