Copy Sovereigns/Paste, Circus and Criminal Acts

Romania has a family tree of extremism. His branches are thick, the leaves, and the fruits are always toxic. Diana Şoșoaca is not an exotic appearance, but she is the law in the long line of politicians who have made political and circus political capital, writes the activist for human rights Ciprian Necula, in an opinion article published by HotNews.

“A lethal combination of grotesque and danger”

Corneliu Vadim Tudor, the supreme scream, opened the ball. The hysterical tribune, who made his career shouting against the Hungarians, Jews and Roma. In 2000, he reached the second round with Ion Iliescu. Romania then jerked, for a moment, and it mobilized exemplary: Vadim lost, but left behind the proof that shouting extremism brings millions of votes.

Dan Diaconescu, the studio TV, took the story further. OTV was the National Bâlci, and PP-DD exploded with a historical score of almost 15%. The aberrant promises, the screams and the non-stop show have proven that the Romanians not only generate a contagious laugh, but also an irresponsible vote.

Gheorghe Funar, the nationalist painter of banks, the color of Cluj in the tricolor and dreamed that the Dacians invented the universal history. He died through several parties, but the provincial extremist remained for eternity, with a single scratched plaque: “Hungarians steal our Transylvania.”

Sebastian Ghiță and Bogdan Diaconu, boredom theorists, have tried. They founded an ultra-nationalist, anti-EU, anti-or-or-or-or-or-out party. Only their hatred was too sterile, without a circus, without a show. The audience was bored of speech, so he sent it directly to the electoral trash.

Georgescu, the Copy-Paste Legionary, was another story. A pure fascist pure, able to recite from Codreanu and plagiarize Antonescu's speeches with actor intonation. Actor because he imagined in various roles in Disney or Hollywood – publicly presenting replicas from films and cartoons as objective truths. Initially marginal, without public support … until external “aids”, especially from some hostile state entities. The luck of the democratic Romania did not come from the voters – as in the case of Vadim – but from the public institutions that have in the mandate the protection of democracy.

George Simion, the tie ultra, brought to the public space the energy of the educated hooligan on the stadium. Its extremist fierce is lighter, but the permanent scandal is made by a gallery leader with a deputy card and the head of the party with multiple extremist skids. The most recent is the case of the Tanasa deputy, who also drew a copy/paste from his neophaascist brothers in western Europe, publicly launching violent messages against Asian delivery. Simion was silent.

Here, in 2025, Diana Şoșoaca-Frankenstein Romanian extremism. He took the screams of Vadim, the circus of Diaconescu, the banks of Funar, the missed ideas of Ghiță and Diaconu, Georgescu's fascist nostalgia and Simion's stadium populism. He wrapped them in projected messages, viral lives and hallucinating statements. The result is a lethal combination of grotesque and danger.

“No one disturbs the circus”

The state, obviously, is silent. The laws that prohibit fascism are for official speeches and for crowns filed for commemorations. Prosecutors – I hope – work quietly, Parliament does not ask for the lifting of immunity, the government is “deeply worried.” In reality, no one disturbs the circus.

And the driver is no longer hiding after jokes or insinuations. In front of the rooms said: “Mr. Prosecutor General, for us, Marshal Ion Antonescu is a hero! For us, Corneliu Zelea Codreanu is a holy martyr! The Legionary Movement is the true and authentic patriotic movement of Romania!”

For us, those who respect democracy, this is not freedom of expression. It is a flagrant violation of the Criminal Code, which should be applied without delay to a MEP. If fascism becomes a show, and the law remains spectators, then it is not the problem, but the Romanian state, which decided to applaud from the stand.

And, because the state is silent, society has to speak. The Romanian activist Giuliano Dumitru initiated a petition to raise the immunity of Diana Şoșoaca, a clear sign that there are people who do not accept that fascism is normalized. The petition can be read and signed here: Diana Şoșoaca without MEP immunity.
