Ruling of the International Court of Justice
On Wednesday, the ICJ ruled in The Hague that Israel has an obligation to support aid efforts in the Gaza Strip carried out by the UN and its entities, including the Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The 11 members of the Court found that Israel had not adequately substantiated its claims that a significant number of UNRWA employees were members of Hamas.
The ICJ also ruled that Israel cannot use starvation in the Gaza Strip as a method of waging war.
The ICJ ruling in this case is an advisory opinion and has no binding force.
