Marian Rădună, the organizer of the march in memory of the Colectiv victims, was asked by Digi24 what his opinion is about the fine received from the Gendarmerie.

“Honestly, I think he didn't know the law”Raduna explained. “And maybe it was set up by his direct superior, I don't know for sure, I guess. He clearly didn't know the law. It seemed to me that he initially wanted to tell me that he wanted to have a dialogue, but in fact, you saw on the video, there was no dialogue and he was only determined to give me a fine and nothing else, without even listening to my side. The mistake was on the part of the authorities.”

He added: “I really wanted to talk about the Collective and not about an error by a gendarme and his direct boss. I would like us to talk more, as you said, about the lack of hospitals, the lack of, I don't know, political decisions, about the corruption that still kills in Romania. We see it too. I'm sorry for bringing it to the public agenda, but yes, this problem also needs to be solved and I hope that the Romanian Gendarmerie will come out with the investigation soon and transparently.”

Several hundred people participated in the march organized in Bucharest to mark ten years since the Colectiv tragedy, on October 30, 2015, when 65 young people lost their lives. The participants gathered at the University and then went to the site of the former club in Piața Bucur, where they lit candles and observed moments of silence.

At the former Colectiv club, 25 people held a moment of silence after the permitted time, and the organizer Marian Rădună was fined 3,000 lei, the amount reduced to 500 lei if it is paid within 15 days.

According to Marian Rădună, the event was officially notified and was carried out on the basis of two distinct protocols: one for the march and another for the commemoration from the former Colectiv club. “The inspector from the Gendarmerie doesn't even know the law. By the time I got to the Collective, my event was over”declared Raduna.

Later, the Romanian Gendarmerie announced that it was verifying the application of the contraventional sanction granted to the organizer of the commemorative march for the victims of Colectiv, stating that the gendarmerie would have acted without taking into account the spirit of the law.
