Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka included JSW in the New Support Mechanism under the draft amendment to the Mining Act.

“(…) Due to the difficult financial situation in the coking hard coal mining sector in Poland, i.e. in Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa SA with its registered office in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, I am submitting an amendment to the above-mentioned project, presenting a new version of the above-mentioned project (version of October 17, 2025)” – wrote Motyka.
“The above changes are aimed at covering JSW SA with the support system. However, the aim of this action is not to lead to the liquidation of mining plants belonging to this company, but to restructure this entity, including employment reduction. For this purpose, employees of mining plants owned by JSW SA will be covered by the same regulations regarding protective benefits as employees of mining companies that are currently covered by the system. support (PGG SA, PKW SA and Węglokoks Kraj SA),” he added.
Motyka writes that activities of JSW, the largest producer of coking coal in Europe, a raw material of critical importance for the European Unionof fundamental importance for the steel industry and therefore also for the arms industry, must be maintained in the current geopolitical situation.
