“The Supreme Audit Office will audit the Safe Credit 2% program. At the end of August, I sent a letter to the President, Marian Banaś, on this matter. And there is a response from the new President, Mr. Mariusz Haładyj: 'The NIK work plan for 2025 includes audit activities in the areas indicated by the Minister,'” Pełczyńska-Nałęcz wrote on Monday on the X website. As she added, the audit “is starting any minute.”

The head of the Ministry of Funds announced on the X platform on August 28 this year that she had sent a letter to the Supreme Audit Office requesting to examine the decision-making process and the effects of Safe Credit on the X platform. As she wrote then, it's high time to take a closer look at how over PLN 20 billion was spent to “lead to an increase in apartment prices of up to several dozen percent.”

Safe Credit was introduced in 2023 and was a program of subsidies for housing loan installments. Such a loan could be obtained by a person up to 45 years of age who did not have and did not have an apartment, house or cooperative right to the premises or house. In the case of a married couple or parents of at least one common child, at least one of them had to meet the age requirement.

The loan amount could not exceed PLN 500,000. PLN or 600 thousand PLN if the borrower ran the household together with his or her spouse or had at least one child. The own contribution could not be higher than PLN 200,000. zloty. If there was no own contribution or incomplete contribution, it was possible to use the BGK guarantee.

On January 1, 2024, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego published in the Public Information Bulletin a notice on the suspension of accepting applications for a Secure Loan by lending banks. A day later, banks stopped accepting applications for such a loan. Borrowers are entitled to subsidized installments for 10 years. (PAP)
