Experienced gardeners make effective fertilizer from this kitchen waste. The main thing is to dry it properly

Potato peels contain potassium, starch, phosphorus and magnesium – elements necessary for plant development and the formation of a strong root system.

To obtain universal fertilizers from potato peels, you need to dry them in the oven at a temperature of 150 °C. To make the cleanings dry faster, you need to spread them out in a thin layer and make sure they don’t burn.

The dried husks are ground in a blender or coffee grinder to a powder, which is stored in an airtight container.

The finished fertilizer can be applied to the ground in the spring when planting crops. Dried husks are also great for composting.

Context

Before use, potato peelings must be disinfected to avoid fungi or bacteria entering the soil. To do this, the peels are placed in the freezer for at least a day.

Potato peelings can also be used to fertilize the soil under trees. To do this, in the fall, the already prepared peel is buried near fruit trees or shrubs to a depth of 12–15 cm, retreating approximately 0.5 m from the trunk.
