The number of businessmen in small and medium-sized businesses grew by almost 461k in 2025 in Moscow, which is 7% more than in the past.
61.1k are lawyers, scientists and programmers. 52.5k are real estate companies, 34.2k are logisticians and 35.7k are entrepreneurs in the field of information communications. And about 142.8k private owners went into the trading business, 80% of them are engaged in retail. Digital services make it easy to create business and reporting, make payments, do accounting, and search for clients. The city helps for such growth: it provides grants, subsidies, deferred rent payments and advice.
The most popular sectors for business are culture, sports and entertainment. Over the year, the number of entrepreneurs increased to almost 12%. The top three included real estate firms, which made up more than 11% of private owners, as well as construction and administration – 10.7%. Individual entrepreneurs also hire workers. At the end of the first quarter of 2025, they had almost 160k employees, which is 4.5% more than in the past.
