Zoo defenders from Novosibirsk have applied to hold a rally against a regional bill allowing the euthanasia of stray dogs.

According to the publication Om1 Novosibirsk, the second reading of the bill in the regional Legislative Assembly is scheduled for October 30. Animal rights activists oppose the adoption of a document approving the possibility of euthanizing aggressive, sick or non-viable animals. Activists believe that these measures could lead to the mass destruction of stray animals in the region.

The head of the shelter in Akademgorodok, Galina Klebche, explained that the rally will take place on a weekday, October 29. According to the publication, the mayor's office has not yet given a final answer on the approval of the action.

Let us remember that a similar law was adopted in the Krasnoyarsk Territory at the end of last year. Because of him, one of the Krasnoyarsk deputies began to receive threats from animal rights activists.
