The incident took place on July 1, and, according to Radio Romania Cluj, it took place on an area of approximately 500 square meters, on the roof of a restaurant and two outbuildings.

Also, a considerable area covered by dry vegetation was engulfed in flames, the access of firefighters being difficult due to the rough terrain. The fire was located, and the firefighters managed to protect two houses.

Progressively, a total of 9 water and foam trucks, 2 ladder trucks and the SMURD motorcyclist were sent to the scene. There were no people who required medical attention.

The damage amounts to hundreds of thousands of euros, claims the owner of the restaurant.

Later, the police opened a criminal case for the destruction. The ISU investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set in that shed next to the restaurant, writes ProTV.

Andrei Biriș, ISU Cluj specialist officer: “The fact of intentional action was established, the fire was caused by a flame used to ignite combustible materials.”

Karzoon Carin, restaurant owner: “We were collateral victims. When I saw the flames of about seven meters there, I ran to our attic, we couldn't extinguish anything, we evacuated all the people from the terrace, the staff. It was quite a lot of damage…extremely large, not quite. It's a few hundred thousand.”
